ACTC
-
What is ACTC?
ACTC (the Assisatnce Center of Towson Churches) is a local non-profit offering food assistance and rent and utilities help.
-
Can I volunteer at ACTC?
Yess! You can sign up on line for volunteer training. We have some church members who volunteer individually. Our youth group has participated in some events, and we are a part of the Thanksgiving Dinner Bag drive.
-
Church Opportunities
Woodbrook has two months in which we collect food items. (February and July). We also participate in the Thanksgiving Dinner drive in October/November, and include ACTC in our budget.
My Sister's Place
-
What is My Sister's Place?
My SIster's Place is a part of Catholic Charity's ministries. It offers women a safe place in which to live.
-
Church Opportunities
We set aside several Sundays throughout the year to bake casseroles that we then freeze and deliver to My Sister's Place.
We also have several members who volunteer at Our Daily Bread (another Catholic Charity's Ministry) that serves meals.
Sasha's Bags
-
What are Sasha's bags?
Sasha was an alumna of our WEE Center who tragically died at much too young an age. At the time of her death, she was putting together bags to give the homeless. That coincided with a ministry our Service Ministry had initated at Woodbrook. Throughout the year we create bags for church members to carry in their car to offer those living with challenges on the streets. Typically, these bags include some toiletries, perhaps a pair of socks, or gloves, a granola bar.
Public Involvement
-
What is a church's public involvement?
Some argue churches and ministers should stay out of politics. Cornel West reminds us that love in the public square is justice, and whether it's protesting the "collateral damage" during Obama's drone attacks, Biden's unwavering support of Israel, or Trump's priorities, it is our attempt to follow God in the way of Jesus that drives our public dissent.
-
Partisan?
No! As best we can, we apply our understanding of divine and biblical expectations for our life together (our politics) and hold up a mirror.
Suburban Crossroads Counseling

Seeking to be good stewards of our space
A variety of community groups meet at Woodbrook, and we consider it part of our ministry to serve as good hosts.
-
Who meets at Woodbrook?
On a weekly basis, we have an Adult Children of Alcoholics group, an Asian senior adult ministry, an Indivisible group, a couple of political groups (we host and celebrate public commitment and involvement without endorsing), Suburban Crossroads Counseling, and, of course, our Weekday Early Education Center.
The Orchid Society and the Quilter's Guild meet monthly at Woodbrook, as does a women's yoga group (during the school year).
On an annual basis (sometimes a couple of times a year) LifeLine screening is in the building (offering affordable, non-invasive, preventive health screenings for adults).
In addition, a number of music teachers use our facilities for their recitals and concerts including YMOB (Young Musicials of Baltimore Youth Orchestra). Some of these teachers also record their students' audition tapes here.
